parking information

electrical pedestals

Following is a description of how the electrical pedestals in the Innovation Place parking lots work:

  • Plugs begin working at temperatures below -9°C.

  • As an energy saving feature, a section of plugs rotate on and off on a proportionate scale from -9°C to -25°C. As the temperature falls, the quicker the plugs flip and the shorter duration they are off until the temperature reaches -25°C.

  • Once the temperature reaches -25°C the plugs remain on.

  • In order to avoid tripping the breaker, please do not use interior car warmers.

intelligent parking lot controllers

In the following parking lots electrical pedestals are equipped with Intelligent Parking Lot Controllers (IPLC):

  • In Saskatoon:
    • 108 Research Drive
    • 110 Research Drive
    • 112 Research Drive
    • 121 Research Drive
    • The Atrium
    • Bio Processing Centre
    • The Galleria
    • L.F. Kristjanson Biotechnology Complex
    • SED Systems Inc.
  • In Regina:
    • Lot G

Each stall has two associated lights, one green and the other red. These lights measure the status and condition of any attached load such as block heaters. Please note the use of interior car warmers will be over the maximum load limit.

The IPLC's in this lot run on a cycle similar to the electrical pedestals in all other lots, with one exception: shortly after first plugging your vehicle in, the plug will shut off for the first two hours. These plugs will remain on once the temperature reaches -25°C.
