Nominations now open for the 2020 CANIE Awards

The nominations for the 2020 Canada Innovation & Entrepreneurship (CANIE) Awards are now open!

The CANIE Awards are a new, comprehensive program created by the Ernest C. Manning Innovation Awards and the Startup Canada Awards program and aim to recognize excellence in “Canadian innovation and entrepreneurship while educating present and future generations of disrupters.” The CANIE Awards cite the high percentage of jobs currently attributed to small businesses (70%) and the impending retirement of half this segment in the next decade as both a catalyst for the awards and unique opportunity to encourage and inspire Canadian entrepreneurs to build innovative and productive enterprises.

The awards aim to achieve this ambitious goal through five main objectives:

Recognize excellence in innovation and entrepreneurship across Canada

Build networks that share a passion for supporting the Canadian entrepreneurial ecosystem

Inspire Canada’s present and future generations to be innovative entrepreneurs

Promote an entrepreneurial mindset among Canadian youth

Increase awareness of Canada’s entrepreneurship ecosystem

Nominees and applicants must be Canadian citizens or permanent residents; demonstrate they are active innovators or entrepreneurs; and, comply with the selected award criteria. Nominations can be submitted by individual candidates, organizations, third parties, or by a nominating partner and the nomination period closes March 1, 2020.

Good luck to everyone at the awards and we hope to see a few friendly tenant faces in the nominations!
