SalonScale Thrives During Pandemic with Commitment to Community

SalonScale has achieved unprecedented success this year, even within the last few months as the pandemic continues to affect daily life. The company has grown by 101% since March when most salons in North America were forced to temporarily shut down and businesses struggled to transition online and support their customers.

This week Alicia Soulier, SalonScale CEO and founder, her new co-founders COO Kim Badiuk and CTO Tyler Gatehouse on Startupville, the Innovation Place / Martin Charlton Communications podcast, to talk about their ability to streamline their efforts and double down on their commitment to help salon owners succeed. Soulier also spoke with Start, the Canadian Prairies entrepreneurship podcast, about understanding when to cause action, the power of mentorship, and the importance of working on yourself.

Last month, Women of Influence named Soulier as one of their 25 influential business leaders succeeding in a COVID world. SalonScale was recognized for its smart technology solutions and digital tools that help salons succeed. For example, in late March, the company launched Together We Talk, a free webinar series aimed at keeping the salon community connected and productive during the pandemic.

Earlier this year, Soulier was selected to participate in the prestigious Women in Tech Silicon Valley Program that helps promising Canadian companies accelerate their growth. She also received an ABA Canada Beauty Under 40 award, recognizing leadership and creativity in the country's beauty industry.

SalonScale and Soulier’s ability to turn vision into action has made the company and Soulier a true powerhouse of the Saskatchewan tech sector and one of eight Prairie startups to watch in 2020, according to Betakit.

SalonScale offers a mobile app that measures the exact quantity and cost of hair colour, a technology solution that improves the financial well-being of salons. A graduate of Co.Labs, Saskatchewan’s first technology incubator, SalonScale is a tenant at Innovation Place in Saskatoon.
