Deadline Extended!ABIC Launches Ag Tech Entrepreneurship Program

The Agricultural Bioscience Innovation Centre (ABIC), formerly the Agricultural Bioscience International Conference, has re-emerged with not only a new name, but a new focus on business training, while continuing its goal of promoting science as a powerful tool for addressing global challenges. ABIC is managed by Ag-West Bio, a tenant at Innovation Place in Saskatoon.

Recently, ABIC received a funding boost from Brent Zettl, President and CEO of ZYUS Life Sciences, a tenant at Innovation Place in Saskatoon. This funding allowed Ag-West Bio to develop Beyond Entrepreneurship: Building an Agri-Value Business, a new training program for Saskatchewan-based entrepreneurs in the agricultural value-added sector.

The Beyond Entrepreneurship program aims to help Saskatchewan entrepreneurs gain the knowledge they need to succeed and consists of two modules:

  • Building a Winning Plan: Agricultural Processing Business Plan Training -- a one-week intensive training program for new entrepreneurs in the agricultural value-added processing sector focused on manufacturing ingredients for food, feed and health markets.
  • Building Entrepreneurial Leadership -- a six-month training program designed for Saskatchewan-based agri-food entrepreneurs with established companies (2 years or more) to grow a resilient company that is capable of responding to change.

Space for both programs is limited and participation is based on an application process. Applications for both modules have been extended and are due September 16. Learn more about Building a Winning Plan and Building Entrepreneurial Leadership to see if they are the right programs for you.
