Innovation Saskatchewan Invests in the Future of Saskatchewan Tech

Innovation Saskatchewan, a government agency responsible for implementing Saskatchewan’s technological and research innovation priorities and tenant at Innovation Place in Saskatoon, has announced multiple new funding investments in the Saskatchewan tech sector. On August 13, the Government of Saskatchewan announced a $15 million investment in the ag tech sector that will be managed through Innovation Saskatchewan.

The investment is intended to help develop new technologies in agriculture and position Saskatchewan as a global leader in the ag tech sector. “This investment will bring jobs and new growth to our province and equip farmers and producers with game-changing technology,” said Minister Responsible for Innovation Saskatchewan Tina Beaudry-Mellor.

This new investment is in addition to Innovation Saskatchewan’s Saskatchewan Advantage Innovation Fund, Saskatchewan Technology Startup Incentive, Made in Saskatchewan Technology (MIST) Program and the new $1 million Agtech Growth Fund announced in July.

Innovation Saskatchewan also announced it is providing $50,000 to the mentorship program Founders Table, which helps women entrepreneurs flourish in Saskatchewan’s technology sector. Innovation Saskatchewan partnered with Women Entrepreneurs of Saskatchewan (WESK) and Economic Development Regina in 2019 to launch the initiative.

This year through WESK, Founders Table is hosting a six-month technology-focused mastermind group facilitated by award-winning entrepreneur and tenant of Innovation Place in Saskatoon Katrina German.
